Team A (Deemo) vs Team B (John Mac)  6th December 2023

Rinks : B ‘MacCornerkicky’ v.  A ‘Deemo’

‘Match 5 of 15 in the Main League!’

Rink ‘B’ took to the ice at full strength with the maestro ‘Mr MacCornerkicky’ at skip, ‘Super lube’ at third, ‘Hardcore’ playing second and ‘Hoss’ at lead.

Rink ‘A’ were fielding two subs for this game, ‘Maverick’ taking his usual position at 3rd, ‘Geemo’ subbing at the last minute for ‘Newsprint’ playing 3rd whilst ‘Flour Power’ subbing for ‘Ivor the Engine’ playing point and leading us out in his usual style.

True to form it was a slow start from both rinks and it was all square at one shot each after two ends but rink ‘B’ took a single at the third end with the hammer to go two shots to one up. Rink ‘A’ struck back with a single in the fourth end to draw us all square on two shots – this had all the makings of a tight nerve jangling affair!

On to the fifth end and, with a collection of granite out front of the head protecting one shot lying for ‘Deemo’, skip ‘MacCornerkicky’ played an outturn shot hoping to edge one of his own shots into the pot lid. Unfortunately the stone was tight and edged an opposing shot into the four foot and rink ‘Deemo’ gracefully accepted a two shot score to go four shots to two up.

End six saw rink ‘Deemo’ take a single against the hammer to forge ahead by three shots. It’s a very true saying ‘it’s never over till it’s over’, as ‘Deemo’ returned the compliment of end five and raised an opposing stone to lie shot – it was now five shots to three and we were heading into an eighth end!!!!

In true SNP fashion I cannot remember anything of the eighth end except trying not to concede two shots – and so it came to pass the rink ‘MacCornerkicky’ scored a single to just fall at the final hurdle whilst rink ‘Deemo’ could breathe again after a less than comfortable win over ‘the Auld Enemy’.

We now look forward to our next match against ‘Round them Up’

My thanks to ‘Geemo’ and ‘Flour power’ for subbing tonight – your help was much appreciated as was your sweeping efforts which were regularly called upon.

Bye for now.

Deemo
