Team C (Deemo) vs Team D (Rob Garner)  11th February 2026

With Donny absent, Mr and Mrs Auld were a strong lead and second for team C (Deemo), and the three-person team D (Garner) were again ably supplemented by our newest club member Alan Campbell at lead.

Team Deemo won the toss, and took a one with the hammer first end.  They nearly scored a four in the next end, but a team D yellow stone just survived to keep it to a single.

We got on the scoreboard with a single in the third, and then scored in the next two ends without the hammer.  Generally, a good number of guards were accumulating out front, so early counters proved crucial.

Then, with the hammer and a delicate final stone draw from Deemo, team C got a 2 to bring it back all square 4-4.  Only 10 minutes left on the clock, and we had hammer..

We got two stones counting behind front guards, but then Ken played a good wick-in from the right to lie counting and hidden in the 8-foot rear, where John’s last stone couldn’t reach him. Deemo then laid a nice guard against me raising a front yellow guard

We looked at me doing a yellow-blue-yellow raise on that, but it seemed there might possibly be an angled line in across the front of that blue.  It was a tight thing, but my stone did in-turn nicely across the front of the blue by a whisker, then on an angle just past two blues on its right, and then put the brakes on in the right-hand 4-foot.

Deemo’s last couldn’t follow it, so we shook hands on that without needing our last stone.  It was great then to repair to the bar to watch live tv of Bruce and the boys playing and winning their opening game at the Cortina Olympics – at an entirely different level, needless to say!

Rob.
