Last night the first encounter of those skipping titans – J Mac and D Mo (but a man down – you know who you are!).
As expected, the first two ends made clear it could go down to a last stone snatch at the last end.
Every end was fiercely contested, with carefully measured shots and the house choked with granite.
Despite such challenges, ends 3 to 6 saw the irrepressible J Mac’s rink scoring like Zelensky’s army – swashbuckling and confident.
Should the 7th end be more of the same, or feared? Team D Mo having all to play for used time-consuming and measured play to lie with 5. Facing the proverbial last end steal, Team J Mac’s cool riposte reduced the deficit to 3 and saved the day.
It was a truly enjoyable and competitive encounter. Let us hope Billy Fraser recovers sufficiently from single-handed sweeping to enjoy the Roxy Music concert.
Geemo. 6th October
Note – Team B had a three point penalty imposed due to the non-appearance of a team member (Ed.)
